The government of Antigua and Barbuda is boasting that its success is due in large part to the absence of “any credible claims of corruption” against ministers.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne yesterday reminded is Cabinet of Ministers of the government’s corruption-free approach.

“The strict adherence to a Code of Conduct which is rooted in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Constitution and in legislation that governs the integrity of Cabinet members, the Cabinet agreed, have been responsible for the faith expressed by the Antigua and Barbuda people in the administration, during recent elections.”

The Chairman of Cabinet canvassed the views of Cabinet members; and, the members decided that “Cabinet will continue to pursue an agenda of transparency and openness that leads to government without harmful corruption.”

  1. If the Government from the Top down was Corruption Free;
    Antiqua’s info structure As In Roads, Power, Water,would be GREAT>

  2. When the PM made the pronouncement did he gaze to the sky, did he look at himself or his eyes were focused more so on those right of screen.

    Mr PM if I were a government Minister and I mask my business interest by either opening companies or putting the businesses in the names of relatives and close friends including keepers is that corruption? If I put people on boards who bring nothing but rather an affiliation to a party is that corruption?

  3. I wonder how many of them…including the PM gulped when he said such, or he gave a wry smile to himself!

  4. Corruption free government in Antigua. Who is investigating? We have an Integrity Commission but have they investigated anything? They are happy to collect a pay cheque. Some of the members could also be involved in the corruption by acting as lawyers for some of the corrupt deals. The name for corruption in Antigua is getting rich creatively. Hopefully one of these days there will be an accounting of how Ministers in government acquired their vast wealth.
