The Cabinet agreed to provide the funding necessary to the Integrity Commission for all and any investigations which it may commence, government’s Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst has said.
The matter came up in Cabinet yesterday amid calls for the integrity commission to investigate persons in public life who breached provisions of the Integrity in Public Life Act.
The Commission, in a press statement last Friday, said it would be asking the government or police for the resources to do the probe since it is not adequately staffed/ equipped to move forward.
Over the weekend, Prime Minister Gaston Browne committed to making the monies available “I understand that the [Commission] said they may not have the resources, but where the request is made for additional resources, we have an obligation to supply the additional resources.”

Since the commission by its own admission has never functioned, perhaps they should walk before they try to run. Let’s start with the asset declarations that are required to be submitted and see what turns up. There are probably about 20 or so individuals (that may be a conservative estimate)that have something to explain in that regard. There is plenty that hasn’t made the news yet.
