Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst has taken to the prime minister’s radio station to clarify his earlier statements about a proposed meeting with Scotia Bank and the prime minister.

In a story first reported by Pointe FM, Hurst suggested that the local manager of the bank indicated ” “In essence she said there was hardly any need for the Scotia Bank officials to meet with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.”

However, today Hurst he was filling in omissions about his earlier statement if there were any.

Hurst now says that it is the proposed local banks who want to buy Scotia Bank and not the prime minister that the bank has refused to meet.

“In the same letter, she indicated a willingness to meet with the Antigua & Barbuda Government.”

Hurst said a date for the meeting has already been proposed but not finalised.

He prefaced his clarification by stating “everytime I try to be as accurate as I possibly can.”

Prime Minister Gaston Browne who is also finance minister insists that he will not issue the vesting order necessary to make the sale of the Antigua branch possible.

He later wrote to Scotia bank asking for a meeting so a group of local banks can take over scotia’s operations here instead of selling to the Trinidad-based Republic Financial Holdings.

  1. BRAIN IN MOTION – MOUTH IN ACTION

Figure out which one shall come first.

If the latter is done, there will always be ‘…possible omissions or misleading information and embarrassing clarifications.’

Know that the ‘PM’ will not accept ‘…mediocrity; …miscommunication; …misinformation or otherwise.

Therefore, the brain shall always lead and the mouth shall follow.

  2. When you hear someone is a confounded liar, even if they are speaking the truth it sounds like a lie.
Guess he loves the name Lie-no-hell.

  3. You see, many, many, many years ago when I was a RECRUIT in Training @ the Regional Police Training Center (RPTC) in Barbados…there were many tag-lines placed all over the Class rooms, some of which inclue “Stand Up, Speak Up & SHUT” another was All that glitters is NOT gold” another was AIM high…the sky is the limit” yet another “make SURE your Brain is in motion, before you put your MOUTH in action” Simply put…Think before your Talk…

  4. ONE SHOULD NEVER STRIVE TO BE ACCURATE….ACCURACY SHOULD BE EFFORTLESS IT IS SIMPLY THE CONSEQUENCE OF WHAT IS……(Rastaman)

ANY STRIVING FOR ACCURACY SUGGESTS INACCURACY.

  5. Max Lie-like-hell Hurst and Gaston Browne are our equivalent of Sarah Huckabee-Sanders and Donald Trump. So many similarities – the boss lies, and the spokesman try to make it plausible. Sarah used the same term of “striving to be accurate” as a cover for her lies.

Since Max is so good at mimicking Trump and his surrogates, you can soon look forward to hearing that “the truth is not always the truth” a la Rudy Giuliani

  6. ‘A group of local banks’ I thought it is one local bank we have in Antigua & Barbuda…Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB).
