Embattled supervisor leaves Observer

13

The management of Observer Media Group announced today that embattled supervisor Martina Johnson is leaving the company.

It is not certain whether Johnson, a native of Guyana, was relieved of her duties or resigned.

Her last day will be in March and Johnson told staff she will be moving back to her homeland to take care of family matters.

She was appointed newsroom manager in August 2017 after the News Director and Deputy left the country for education purposes that same year.

Johnson served less than six months in her new position.

Last year, staff wrote jointly to management complaining about Johnson’s management style, among other concerns.

However, management took her side accusing her subordinates of an ambush.

According to our source, a recent incident may have influenced her decision.

Before her pending departure, the Guyanese left Observer twice before; the first time under a voluntary severance package and the second time by way of resignation, only to return later.

  1. wow. we get it. she is not from Antigua. The Guyanese? really? yall couldve tried harder to hide your feelings about the woman

  2. Wait! A she name so?? Dats the…. who has been giving the other staff hell?? Looks are really deceiving. I guess in the end it is a win-win situation for her and omg. Me nar going be surprised if she wretch back Antigua in the very near future. That accent was annoying anyway.

    • Guess she possessed a “Guyanese spirit” A kiss-ass and suck-up constantly bragging about how “things so good back in Guyana” so much “Guyanese gold” and “how big Guyana be” but still not going back to Guyana. Peace has come at last to the news team. Perhaps this was the “yoke” that needed to be broken to get those shares sold and restore financial health to Winston Derrick company. The yoke of bondage has been lifted from the News room. Impossible to function at optimal capacity in an unhealthy, unstable, gossipy work environment. Slowly but surely the YOKE OF BONDAGE will be lifted, the darkness lifted and “Let there be light” will once again be true.

  3. “Take care of family matters” my ASS!!! She dun created so much enemies not only at Observer, but politically and professionally dat she has no other choice but to leave because she wouldn’t find wuk nowhere else inna Antigua . She know she days numbered. She done use observer and Mek dem pay fuh she study all kinda courses online. She tink she betta dan everbody. Good riddance.

  4. I hope she is replaced with someone that can report the news independently. Tired of hearing the UPP view as news. I understand everyone has a bias but reporting the facts should not be biased. Dave head for the news room
