The Democratic National Alliance today extended “profound sympathy” family members on the passing of your dear Dad, Vincent “Tubby’ Derrick.,
The DNA said in a statement that it relied on his wise counsel and advice during the embryonic phase of the DNA.
“We will remember him for his instructive exhortations on the virtues he unflinchingly upheld and encouraged others to emulate – honesty and sincerity, industriousness, decency, steadfastness, commitment, and respect for everyone – in the ongoing quest to achieve prosperity for all the people first and foremost.”
The DNA said “We recall fondly that whether you were one of his customers or a member of his fraternity – political or otherwise – or just someone who he was meeting for the first time, Tubby made you feel that you had worth and value. He was a straight talker who possessed a vast amount of knowledge about life, politics, governance, philosophy, faith, history, and economics and was sincere in his beliefs and views. Tubby was uncompromising in his commitment to democracy in all of its forms – free men, women and free enterprises, equality among all People and respect for the dignity of the human being! His abhorrence for corruption in any form was well known. Similarly, he was unyielding in his commitment to good governance, integrity in public life and accountability.
We will always remember him as a sagacious, thoughtful and provocative contributor to discussions on issues facing our society. His yearning for our nation to embrace the “politics of knowledge and ideas as opposed to the politics of noise” will forever be etched in the minds and psyche of the conscientious in our society. “
