Digicel says its network, in the main, performed well during the passing of Irma and it is currently conducting a thorough check of each and every one of its cell sites island-wide.

Digicel says it is aware of a small number of isolated areas in Antigua where service has been affected and has mobilised its fleet of engineers and technical staff to address these in the shortest timeframe possible with good progress already being made. In addition, engineers are currently assessing the impact in Barbuda.

To ensure that everyone could communicate through the storm, Digicel gifted each and every customer in Antigua & Barbuda with EC$10 of free credit valid for a period of 48 hours to use for both on and off net local calls.

Janice Sutherland, CEO of Digicel Antigua & Barbuda, comments; “We know that of paramount importance at times like this is that we keep people connected to friends and loved ones. The Digicel family takes that responsibility very seriously and we focused on doing everything we could to ensure that we delivered great service.”

She continues; “The Digicel network performed well through the passing of Irma and we are now focused on addressing the small number of service issues we have encountered in isolated areas of the island. We will provide updates as appropriate.”
