The Antigua and Barbuda Customs and Excise Division will be launching an immediate exercise to encourage holders of liquor licenses to pay up their outstanding arrears.

Key officers in the division will undertake to visit a number of these establishments over the next few months to ensure that the division gets its due in accordance with Chapter 249 of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda under section 49 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act.

The laws of Antigua and Barbuda provide for fines to be levied against individuals who fail to adhere and so the division is urging all liquor license holders to immediately settle their arrears.

The division recognises that some persons may be unable to completely remove their debt and so the Comptroller of Customs is asking that persons to come in to the department to make arrangements to settle. Each application for settlement will be handled on a cases by cases basis.

The Customs and Excise Division is expressing its appreciation to the relevant individuals and businesses for their cooperation in this ongoing exercise.
