BREAKING: State College shut down

2

Students, faculty and administrators at the Antigua State College (ASC) were sent home Wednesday afternoon by the Acting Principal Patrcia Benn.

Sources at the college said it was shut down by order of the Education Minister Michael Browne, following an incident involving injury to a student yesterday, and subsequent revelations about the college’s deteriorating physical plant.

Teachers and staff were told to report to the school Thursday at noon at which time they would know what decisions have been made for the country’s highest institution of learning. Some students report that their teacher’s told them to come to class as normal in the event that classes are held.

Sources inform Antigua News Room (ANR) that teachers at ASC had an emergency meeting Wednesday and had decided on a sit-in tomorrow. However, it seems the move by the minister has preempted any such action.

We will bring more as it comes to hand.

  1. It is time for the government to put a preventative maintenance program in place to take care of its infrastructure. They have the labor force to do frequently preventative checks and corrective repairs.
So why keep paying salaries for unproductive work??? It is better the government subcontracted out the Public Works department.
