The Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board (PTCCB) today called on residents to report the sale and use of unregistered chemicals

The body is responsible for the regulation, importation, storage, manufacture, sale, transportation, use and disposal of pesticides and toxic chemicals and for incidental and connected purposes.

The body is warning the general that individuals can be fined $ 25 thousand if they engage in the importation, sale and use of chemicals. A year in jail or both jail time and fine is also possible.

The board said in a news release that all pesticides and toxic chemicals imported into Antigua and Barbuda must be registered prior to importation into the country.

The general public is encouraged to report suspected incidences of sale or use of unregistered products to the office of the Registrar of Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals at telephone #: (268) 462-9191/464-4448 or email [email protected].
