Atlantic Rower, Rowan “Archie” Bailey is expected to take the stand next week when he begins his defense in a drug trafficking case in the High Court.

Bailey and co-accused Kenneth Wyre were charged in relation to 50-kilos of cocaine stemming from a 2010 incident.

Officers from the ONDCP allegedly busted the duo in Clarks Hill as they were transferring the drugs between vehicles.

On Thursday, both defendants indicated they intended to give sworn evidence in their defense.

Defendant, Wyre told the court, on the day of the incident, he was in Clarks Hill looking at new properties in the area.

He said while driving on Orange Drive he noticed two vehicles parked on the road.

Wyre said he then heard shouting and when he looked in his rear-view mirror he saw a vehicle approaching.

The man said he sped away because he was fearful for his life after realizing the occupants of the vehicle were armed.

Wyre said the men gave chase and identified themselves as ONDCP officers after shooting out his tire.

Bailey, who was a member of the the first local team to participate in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, is expected to begin his defense on Monday.
