Atlantic Rower Said He Thought Cocaine Was Seafood

Atlantic Rower, Rowan “Archie” Bailey took the stand Monday in the major drug trafficking case ongoing in the High Court.

Bailey and co-accused Kenneth Wyre were charged in relation to 50-kilos of cocaine stemming from a 2010 incident.

Officers from the ONDCP busted the duo in Clarks Hill as they were allegedly transferring the drugs between vehicles.

While Bailey admitted to moving two bags from Wyre’s pickup to a Silver Lancer he told the court he did not know the contents of the bags.

The man said Wyre led him to the area and told him to put the bags in the trunk of the Lancer, which was already parked on the road with the trunk opened.

In response to his lawyer’s questions, Bailey said he had no reason to suspect it was illegal drugs.

The man told the court, he believed the bags were filled with fish and conchs and described them as being cold and damp.

Bailey said he only learned the bags contained cocaine after he was taken to the ONDCP headquarters.

Last Friday, Wyre, who said he operated a fishing boat, denied any knowledge of the bags.

He testified on the day of the incident, he was in Clarks Hill looking at new properties in the area.

He said while driving on Orange Drive he noticed two vehicles parked on the road.

The accused man said he then heard shouting and when he looked in his rear-view mirror he saw a vehicle approaching.

Wyre testified he sped away because he was fearful for his life after realizing the occupants of the vehicle were armed.

He said the men gave chase and identified themselves as ONDCP officers after shooting out his tire.

  3. The law is innocent until proven guilty. You people at so judgemental in every thing. Let justice prevail. All you without sin cast the first Stine. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror at ourselves. Yes he rowed and I am damn well proud if him.

    • Even though he might be ‘proven not guilty’ it doesnt mean he didnt do it. Just remember that. All this statement about innocent until proving guilty is just hog wash. Thats why i stay in my lane because a man can do you wrong but based on technicality corruption and the like he can be proven “innocent”. Oh as for the white stuff, best he said he thought he was transporting sea salt.

      • Also remember he can be innocent. It seems very clear to me that you have already made up your mind that the man is guilty. That is absolute bullshit. Since you know he is guilty why the he’ll don’t you go and give evidence to prove such. You Antiguans always crucifying people without giving them a fair chance.

    • In my view, these two men are as guilty as hell and the ONDCP would have been tipped off to be in the area. The authorities should make a deal with them if they provide the names of the higher ups who owned the drugs .

Antigua does not produce cocaine and doubt many local Antiguans can afford to buy it.
These guys should realize that drug dealers leave the business in one of two ways, dead or in jail.
