The U.S. Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States is pleased to announce that Antiguan, Sarah-Anne Gresham, will head to the United States to complete her graduate studies, funded by the U.S. Government.
Gresham is part of the Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship cohort for the academic year 2018-19. She is presently the co-founder of Intersect, a local NGO focusing on gender issues, and was most recently a researcher at the Directorate of Gender Affairs in Antigua. During the month of August, she will travel to George Washington University to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
U.S. Ambassador to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS Linda Taglialatela commented, “Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean have many talented young people, and we are thrilled once again to have a cohort of Fulbright scholars complete their graduate studies in the United States. We wish them all the best as they further their education through the prestigious Fulbright program. The United States remains committed to promoting mutual understanding and building strong people-to-people relationships through educational exchanges.”
The Fulbright program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government, and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Foreign Student program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer at U.S. universities or other appropriate institutions.
