Antigua welcomes new Egyptian Ambassador

Minister of Foreign Affairs,  E.P. Chet Greene welcomed the newly accredited Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Hishman Mohamed Gamal Eldien as he presented credentials.

Ambassador Eldien expressed his love for the twin island state and praised the people for their warm hospitality which he affirmed is a common facet of our countries. “It is amazing to see the beautiful island and the charm it has,” His Excellency declared.

Minister Greene voiced his delight in having the Ambassador and hailed the steady relations that Antigua and Barbuda continue to enjoy with the Arab Nation. He further conveyed his Government’s gratitude for the scholarships offered by the Egyptian Government for nationals of Antigua and Barbuda; two scholarships for tertiary level studies in any university under the Ministry of Higher Education and one scholarship to pursue studies in the Arabic language.

In addition, Minister Greene commended the Arab nation for its role in the global agriculture industry and for maintaining a strong tourism sector. He then disclosed that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda is eager to cooperate in such key sectors through the exchange of technical expertise.

The Ambassador welcomed the Minister’s proposal and commitment to finding other potential areas for cooperation.

Antigua and Barbuda and the Arab Republic of Egypt formally established diplomatic relations in 2010.

  1. This is great to see, we welcome Egypt to our Antigua and Barbuda nation. Hopefully Egypt can give us some financial aid or other assistance to recover from the hurricanes. Thank you!
