Grammarian tops Halo Christmas Art Competition

Overall Winner of the 2018 Card Competition

Joshua Edwards of the Antigua Grammar School emerged as overall winner of the Halo Christmas Art Competition 2018. Joshua entered in the 13 – 15-year-old category.

The competition attracted hundreds of entries from public and private schools across Antigua and Barbuda. The students who participated ranged in ages from 7 – 18 years old. The St. Nicholas Primary School won all three prizes in the 7 – 9 year -old Category and the Antigua State College which participated for the first time, snapped up two of the three prizes in the 16 – 18-year category.

Governor General, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams shared that the Halo Foundation Art Competition is designed with the main objectives of developing the skills of our young people and assisting them in their appreciation of the fine arts.

Founder and President of the Halo Foundation, Lady Williams announced that Halo will be rolling out further initiatives in 2019 to with the aim of honing the skills of our youth in the areas of art techniques and art history.

Their Excellencies Sir Rodney and Lady Williams congratulated all the winners who were in attendance at the brief ceremony at Government House to receive their cash prizes.

1st Runner Up – Jean Regelan, St. Nicholas Primary

2nd Runner Up – Jasmine Khouly, St. Nicholas Primary

3rd Runner Up Coco Feiles, St. Nicholas Primary

10 – 12-year-old Category

1st Runner up – Stella Keeling, St. Nicholas Primary

2nd Runner up –  Naesha Chambers, Gospel Light Elementary

3rd Runner up – Serenity Hunte, Island Academy

13 – 15-year-old Category

1st Runner up – Joshua Edwards, Antigua Grammar School

2nd Runner up – Joed Martin, Antigua Grammar School

3rd Runner up Janine Williams, Island Academy

16- 18-year-old Category

 1st Runner Up – Akeile Benjamin, Antigua State College

2nd Runner Up – Farah Richardson, Island Academy

3rd Runner Up – Tequan Travenier, Antigua State College
