Moon Gate Hotel & Spa Prepares to Welcome First Guests in Winter 2025

Construction is well advanced on one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most eagerly anticipated new resorts. Moon Gate Hotel & Spa is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2025, just in time for the upcoming winter tourist season.

Recruitment is already underway, with the resort expected to generate significant employment for Antiguans.

The luxury boutique property features 71 suites across nine buildings and seven two-bedroom hillside villas with scenic green views.

Led by Antiguan developers Gaye Hechme and Cameron Fraser, the resort embraces a philosophy of ‘Gracious Hospitality’ and puts wellness and sustainability at its core.

It promises guests an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, complete with farm-to-fork cuisine and discreet, attentive service.

“We want genuine connectivity with our guests and our community,” said Ms Hechme. “This is a special place where they will be taken care of, where they can come and stay, and leave rejuvenated.”

Mr Fraser added, “It was important to us that the entire development was sustainably designed and in harmony with its environment. We believe in developing our community above all else.”

The eco-conscious resort will offer a range of amenities including an à la carte restaurant, a plant-based café, swimming pools, a gym, and a tranquil spa.

Strong ties with local artisans, producers, and suppliers are visible throughout the hotel’s offerings—from its cuisine to its decor.

Moon Gate is actively seeking passionate staff who reflect the warmth and heritage of the Caribbean.

“They will be highly professional yet personable, and empathetic to our guests’ needs,” Ms Hechme said.

“In exchange, our team will have the opportunity to grow and flourish.”

The hotel’s name is inspired by the traditional Chinese moon gate—an architectural symbol of good fortune and welcome.

  1. That beach was one of the most beautiful and untouched. Hope they don’t ruin it with overdevelopment.

  2. I’ve looked at this development a few times and have been impressed with what I saw. I know Gaye and Cameron a little bit and they have a wealth of experience in all aspects of real estate and tourism in Antigua.

@AAB: It’s set back a few hundred yards up the road from the beach so “regular Antiguans” still have unobstructed access.

@Cheryl: The construction is almost finished. Hiring is already underway.

  3. We hear about hotel construction every so often but nothing much about developing agriculture. Actually, there’s an effort to grab the bit of arable lands that are available, to construct houses. There’s probably not much money in agriculture but a fortune in CONSTRUCTION.
