Another fire tender will soon become a fixture in the South of Antigua, the government has said.
Cabinet was informed that four tenders, both new and used, will be shipped to Antigua shortly to meet the increasing demand of homeowners for the service, and the international airport to retain its Tier One status.
While the V.C. Bird International Airport will benefit from the purchase, the communities on the far south side of the island will now be able to have greater access, reducing the waiting time for the trucks’ arrival when an emergency is announced.
Discussions are to be held with the two parliamentary representatives from the St. Mary’s North and South Constituencies to determine which village will the fire tender be placed.

It’s about time.
A small firestation, police station and an emergency medical ambulance unit, with highly trained workers, could also be a plus.
A gas station is also needed in close proximity to Old Road and Johnson’s Point Village, as the villagers have to travel too far for petrol and cooking gases.
Please, also look into the East area where Willikies, New Field Village and those surrounding areas are concerned. They also need urgent assistance of the above mentioned facilities/services.
