Newly appointed Minister of Social Transformation and the Blue Economy, Dean Jonas; paid a visit to the National Office of Disaster Services NODS on Friday.
During the visit, Minister Jonas was updated on the agency’s preparations ahead of the 2020 hurricane season which officially begins on June 1st.
Director of Nods Philmore Mullin, provided details on the readiness of the Communications system here in Antigua and also on the sister island Barbuda.
Minister Jonas and Director Mullin also discussed the new protocols which will have to be established at shelters; in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure the health and safety of those persons who will be utilizing the facilities.
Minister Jonas was accompanied by Permanent Secretaries Ms. Sandra Joseph and Mrs. Sharon Steve.
