New curfew hours take effect on Oct. 15

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has decided:

Curfew hours will be from 11pm to 5am effective 15th October, 2021.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua and Barbuda will be entering 2022 with most, if not all of the measures put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, removed, whether or not a significant number of people has been vaccinated.

“I want to make a point here, too, that we are moving towards dropping the state of emergency, the curfews and so on and eliminate most of the restrictions as we can by the end of the year, the latest.

 

“Now, lest say if we only get 60 per cent of the population vaccinated, or 70 per cent and we decide to drop those restrictions, it means therefore that individuals would come exposed to those unvaccinated persons,” Browne said.

 

He said that nationals were given sufficient time to get vaccinated to curb the spread of the virus that has so far killed 85 people and infected 3, 503 others since March last year.

 

“We are not going to go into 2022 limping and creating more stress and strain for the economy. The economy cannot take any more stress, cannot take any more strain and those who may want to suggest that it may be irresponsible for us to do so, well, you know what, our people would have had several months to get vaccinated.

 

“So, by then, whoever is not vaccinated by then would have taken a conscious decision not to get vaccinated and if the unfortunate happens and they get ill, or they die that’s the choice they would have made,” Browne said.

 

Last week, Information Minister Melford Nicholas, said that public sector employees who would have contracted COVID-19 and are in the early stages of recovery will be considered ‘medically exempt’ from the Government’s mandatory vaccination policy.

    It’s been a conscious decision all along when people decide that they don’t want to take the vaccine .I got Covid in the early days of the virus and my answer remains the same No Vaccine .

    • Man, you should trust that feeling more often. Cause you have a good hunch going on there. Gaston is in a win-win situation. The opposition is too weak to contest the ABLP. But there is always an agenda. Always….sometimes it benefita the people…but it always benefits those in power. Always…..so…we tak what we can get..

  9. Gaston Browne puts the economy above people’s lives. That should be plain to all.

    Protecting people’s lives should be his absolute first priority. Instead, his sense of self seems to be more wrapped up in his handling of the country’s economic fortunes. Yes, the vaccination numbers are fairly low, but you have to work within the constraints set by that very fact.

  10. Well I can see that GASTON AND HIS BAND OF MERRY-MEN & WOMEN have acknowledged the political heat that began with their ILL-ADVISED POLICY TO FORCE PEOPLE TO VACCINATE.

    Melford Nicholas did say that “having done what they feel right, if the ECONOMY (MONEY) comes back in 2022 AND THE PEOPLE STILL REMEMBER WHAT THEY (the government) did to them (THROW TEAR-GAS ON THEM AND FORCE THEM TO TAKE SOMETHING INTO THEIR BODY THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO TAKE) then they will accept losing their respective constituencies.

    He even said they SWORE THIS TO THEIR ALMIGHTY LEADER (GASTON).

    Well, it seems as if the plan has moved forward into 2021 so I CONCLUDE THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GET A JUMP ON THE SITUATION to try and retain government.

    My people, I want to encourage everyone to FOLLOW THE PROTOCOLS AND IF IT IS YOUR CHOICE, TAKE THE VACCINE.

    GOD gives all of us a choice and he tells us that we will have to accept the consequences (good or bad).

    In my opinion, GASTON AND HIS BAND OF MERRY-MEN & WOMEN flew in the face of God. Who the hell they think they are?

    Also, some church leaders have shown who they really are.

    I APPLAUD MR. JAMES LUKE AND STAN “MEGATRON’ RICHARDS.

    I want to encourage the ‘Freedom Fighters’ to NEVER ALLOW THE ELECTORATE TO FORGET WHAT THE POLICE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS A.B.L.P. GOVERNMENT did to you on Sunday 8th August 2021 (U.P.P. STAY OUT of this one).

    Workers of this country, NEVER FORGET THAT GASTON BROWNE AND HIS BAND OF MERRY-MEN & WOMEN forced some of us to put something into our body IN ORDER FOR US NOT TO STARVE AND DIE (along with our family members who depends on us).

  11. I keep hearing this phrase “curb the spread”.
    – From the very beginning we were told the vax would “curb the spread”, “curb the spread”. Now each one of us personally knows at least one person who is fully vaxxed and has been fully infected. When a vaxxed person gets sick they still quarantine them because they can still… SPREAD the virus.
    – Pfizer says their protection FROM INFECTION falls below 50% after 5 months. Do your research. The selling point of the drug is, “reduces risk of hospitalization and death”, so if it’s strong point was NEVER prevention how much is 50% of not-much-prevention-in-the-first-place?
    – Now they have people cowering in fear still swollen and bleeding from something that does nothing more than than a few tablets you can get in a pharmacy.
    – They disregard natural immunity but I dare anyone to give a local example, of ANY unvaccinated person catching COVID twice.
    – 3 Pfizer scientists were secretly recorded saying natural immunity outperforms the vax
    – Rand Paul, a senator in the US Congress, a medical doctor and COVID recoveree, refuses to take any vaccine citing a study of 2.5 million people that found that naturally acquired immunity outperforms them by a factor of 27.

    I hope we have learned our lesson here. Never let someone insult your intelligence by telling you not to believe what you see right before your own eyes.
