Antigua & Barbuda T20 Cricket Clubs Alliance and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Presents Antigua & Barbuda T20 Premier League 2025

New and exciting T20 competition hits Antigua & Barbuda!

Six of the country’s top clubs selected from the recently concluded ABCA 2-day competition will compete in the inaugural and explosive Antigua & Barbuda T20 Premier League 2025 from April 27-May 11 at the historic and iconic Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (SVRS), North Sound.

The Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Clubs Alliance (ABCCA), with support from the country’s Caribbean Premier League franchise, the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons – which was established in 2024 – is organising the new national T20 competition.

The Antigua & Barbuda T20 Premier League is sanctioned by the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) and is expected to receive the full support from the Ministry of Sports.

The ABCCA states: “Our goal is not only to stage an excellent tournament but to use it as a stepping stone to prepare at least five of our players to make the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons team within the next five years.”

PIC Liberta Blackhawks, All Saints Pythons, Empire Nations, Jennings Tigers, New Winthropes Lions and Pigotts Crushers will clash for coveted honours.

However, Bethesda, Bolans and Rising Sun who didn’t make the cut this year will participate in the warmup matches which will be staged on two separate Saturdays – April 12 & 19 respectively – at various community fields.

The tournament proper bowls-o[ at the SVRS on Sunday 27 April with 15 round robin matches with two games nightly until Tuesday 6 May followed by the Semi-Finals on Saturday 10 May and climaxes with the Grand Finale on Sunday 11 May.

The ABCCA adds: “Each of the six teams playing the tournament can select up to two players from a pool of 12 players placed in a draft pool by each of the three teams who are members of the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Clubs Alliance that didn’t qualify for the tournament.

“Each team in the Draft is to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of its player needs and to select the best players who can add value to their playing Xl or bench

strength such that there would be an overall improvement of the competitive standard of each team.

“The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons will have the option to attach one of its players to each team for the Semi-Finals and Finals.”

Former West Indies Test and/or One-Day International players: Ridley Jacobs (All Saints), Winston Benjamin (Pigotts), Kenneth Benjamin (Liberta), Sylvester Joseph (Jennings), Kerry Jeremy (New Winthropes) and Austin Richards Jr (Empire) will serve as mentors to the clubs.

A nine-member Steering Committee chaired by Dale Lawrence and comprises Kenneth Benjamin, Kennesia Cabral, Bakesha Francis-James, Gija George, Wayne Hewlett, Ian Tittle, Eldora Sylvester and Glen Miller has organised the T20 Premier League.

The organizational structure includes a Cricket Committee headed by Kenneth Benjamin with members Earl Waldron, Wayne Hewlette, Dale Lawrence, Hugh Gore, as well as Kenny Lewis and Dave Gustave invited on behalf of the ABCA.
