CABINET NOTES: The issue of utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all manner of human endeavor remains uppermost in the minds of Cabinet members.
The UWI Five Islands Campus is specializing in the understanding and promotion of AI in a variety of fields.
In partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cabinet has agreed to set up a committee of experts on AI who will examine cross-cutting technologies and systems that could further the development of Antigua and Barbuda, and place the University at the forefront of this new technology in our Caribbean.

I honestly don’t believe we should put too much interest in Al technology, because later down the line it will be danger for Us.
I don’t see one person on the UWI Five Islands staff or Faculty with an machine learning engineering degree.
The fact that this is bring done through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows it nothing but a gimmick. Why not thought Ministry of Education?
Everyone is talking AI when they know little about it. Stop miduuding and misapplying the term Ai; for It’s been around in your cell phones for 25 years.
ChatGbt released an open version in November 2023 which allows programmers to build Ai applications.
Where are the programers and machine learning engineers. Ai is an application not a decipline to be taught.
Ai is being referred to as a gimmick of Government actions, when the GOAB is still weeded to processes that are leftovers from Colonialism.
Where the the policies for government efficiencies?
Where is the commitment to measured productivity?
Start producing math competent students with analytical skills.
Ai is fast and reliable now but i think in future it will completely take over us
I think training programs and workshops would help demystify AI for the general public.
I hope this committee also considers the ethical implications of AI in decision-making processes.
