Neval Chatelal and Nishard Mayhroo are the 2018 Chutney Soca Monarch champions.
The duo performed “Massala” in 10th position at the grand finals in Skinner Park, San Fernando Saturday night.
Together they beat out defending champion Omardath Maraj who had to settle for second with his song “Me and My Motorcar”. The song which caused controversy in recent weeks “Row Lee Mudda Count” performed by Nermal Massive Gosine came in third.
Following the results, an emotional Mayhroo thanked his mother and supporters for believing in him. It was the first time Mayhroo and Chatelal had entered the competition together.
