Four Months On, No Answers in Death of 9-Year-Old Chantel Crump

More than four months after crucial forensic and toxicology samples were sent overseas, the family of nine-year-old Chantel Crump is still waiting to learn what caused her death.

The samples were shipped abroad in April after local pathologists were unable to determine how she died. An initial autopsy, conducted on 4 April, was ruled inconclusive. It found no evidence of strangulation, drowning, visible injuries or sexual assault. Weeks later, additional samples were sent for advanced toxicology and other specialist testing, but no results have been shared.

Chantel’s father says he has received no new information from police and plans to visit authorities on Thursday in search of answers.

The case has gripped the nation since 12 March, when Chantel was reportedly abducted just seconds from her Grace Farm home. Her body was found more than two days later in bushes at Weather Hills. Police allege that 20-year-old Angela Mahia led them to the site. Majia, who has been charged with murder, has appeared in court twice, each time wearing a bulletproof vest amid heightened public anger.

Chantel, a Grade Four pupil at Five Islands Primary School, was buried on 10 June. But her death — and the unanswered questions surrounding it — continue to weigh heavily on her family and the wider community.

Police say the investigation remains a top priority and have urged the public to remain calm, promising to share updates when they become available. Until then, the cause of Chantel’s death remains a mystery.

  1. I am certainly not routing for any good outcome when it comes to who is responsible for this young girls demise, but without a cause of death or a confession, I do not know how this case will be solved as a murder case.. abduction yes, but the way it’s looking, that’s about it.

And then again, they will have to prove that she was even abducted, or was just simply given a ride by someone who knew her!

All around, just a sad case.

  2. Are unseen hands✍🏿✍🏿✍🏿 guiding this investigation, along with those of Yennifer and the girl who was allegedly slaughtered on Runaway Beach. Asot U in dey too, wid Passo holding up the rear.
For some Odd Fellow, reason, could three of these cases be linked?
Checking with Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and Scooby Doo, they are following leads which have not all been exhausted.

    The Girl On The Beach.

Did Asot witness something either personally or from his personal surveillance of his property?

    The Wayward Politician.

From what Asot may have seen or have in his possession been used against his adversaries, in the alleged ritual killing by the Gang, as was ordered by their godfather, to send a message to Chedt the Green Hornet? Got to keep the Green monster and the hornets nest in chedt.

    Ah We Run TingZ!

The abduction and alleged killing, of Chantel could’ve been a message sent by The Unseen ✍🏿✍🏿✍🏿Hands, indicating that, no matter how cute e get, a dem CONtrol the Law!

Mami O Papi, Donde Es Passo?
    Que, Que Es Paso.

    FUE DANO COLATERAL!
Estaba el en la casa de Asot, cuando fue asesinado?

The Discarded Body At Fig Tree Drive

    R. POMPEY former COP and head of CID already solved this one.

  3. Four months is far too long. This is completely unacceptable. Delays in forensic reports not only hinder a proper investigation but also make it seem like the case is not a priority.

  4. Meanwhile a certain man a pelt dick on Angela nf, she’s eating the best meals and watching TV….what a country we live in.🤣😂

  5. I can also name about another Half-a-dozen HIGH profile murders on this tiny island that seems to have been put on the back-burner.

Which begs the question why so?

Are the links much more sinister then we all realise and attached to very high profile people that’ll shock the nation to its core?

It really makes you wonder why certain murders and misdemeanors take so so long to be dealt with in this country.

  6. WHO DARES TO ASK “CHANTEL???”. May blood fall on you and yours onto eternity! YES, CHANTEL, that innocent nine-year-old CHILD who was abducted and subsequently MURDERED AND TOSSED IN THE BUSHES by a Santo Domingo native sojourning in Antigua(according to Police reports of a confession)!!!!!
Yes CHANTEL, a child, a normal healthy child in every sense of the word, a school child, a child living in the care of her mother and father. That Chantel!!
I urge ALL ANTIGUANS AND BARBUDANS to keep the lights on, keep the pressure on……LEST WE FORGET! JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL CRUMP NOW!!!!!

  7. https://antiguaobserver.com/road-fatality-case-still-on-hold/
A High Court order of a stay remains in place on the police bringing any criminal proceedings against Mark Ryan, the driver being investigated in the fatality case of Andrea Hughes.
The order was granted a year ago after the police published the findings of a coroner’s inquest, indicating who was culpable.
The lawyer representing Ryan, Hugh Marshall Jr, had challenged the findings and publication of the inquest report in August last year, preventing the police from moving forward in any way.
Marshall did not state what’s next for the case, just to confirm the court order still has effect.
It is now three and half years after Hughes was allegedly struck down on Weatherill’s main road.
    She died leaving nine children.

  8. So y’all think we will forget if you make us wait? Think again silly rabbit. Tricks are for kids. JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL!! was the cry then, is the cry now, and will continue to be the cry until justice is served! Are we nar play!!

  9. What do we do in the face of trouble? We can’t fight fire with fire! I say justice for Chantel, I say…..

  10. Meanwhile this young lady is still able to smile her brightest and her apprentice is free and maybe traveling the world while we sit and wait, while her family suffer in pain? The time will come

  11. I know it’s hard but we need to give the government some credit. We watch too much tv.
Even in the states that we look up to forensic analysis sometimes take longer than that due to backlog ect.
I don’t believe there is any move in the government part to cover up anything however I do hope that the get the results soon

  12. @Less We Forget….it’s very interesting, that you mention Andrea Hughes, so pationately. There’s only one other person, that have done so blogging on ANR, and that’s From The Sidelines. Just my hunch; I could be wrong, but how did you divorce the Brixtonian?

Anyways, anyhows some very interesting comments, at a very interesting time(s) for HUEmanity.
I recall the days of CARIBARENA, when RAWLSTON POMPEY, someone mentioned, that he’s sure, that he has solved the Yenifer Bridges murder; but, I actually did enjoy many of his writings in the ONLINE PAPER CARIBARENA.
He would delve, dig deep into his time as a Constable to becoming the Superintendent of Police.

Many of us, (Morris, Skye, take care of the little things, John French II, tenman etc) had some engaging and serious debates as to the possibility’s of the escalation in crime and criminality.
I for one, don’t just see nor understand crime and criminality from the War Room to the burial site, as a recent phenomena; they are intricately and intrinsically linked to HUEmanity from its inception, beginning, #whatever; therefore, while what has happened in recent times in Antigua is shocking to some, trendy to some, unfortunate for some, unbelievable to some, it’s expected and is highly likely, there are strong possibility’s, there are indications factors which says, these CRIMES and the investigations, outcomes will continue to plague Antigua, unless and until those in the purported upper echelon’s have the will to make these wrongs right.
Neither the physically poor, the not so well read, the considered underlings, like Less We Forget – Andrea Hughes, Chantel, Yennifer, Manny, Bernard (a classmate from potters from the 1970’s – Pompey was probably a Constanle then); but my point is, these and countless others, and for the most part, their families as well are not in position(s) to enact the policies which will bring the kinds of positive changes to how crimes and criminality are dealt with in the Nation!

Less We Forget, forgery, embezzlement, bribery, etc all play some role in the CRIME EQUATION, and how, why, what, when, where things are done.
