Barbuda International Airport Sees Strong Uptake in Flights Post-Launch

Since its grand opening on October 3rd, Barbuda International Airport (BIA) has welcomed 99 passenger flights, with 45 arrivals in October and 54 in November, reflecting a surge in air travel to the island.

BIA boasts a 6,100-foot runway capable of accommodating aircraft such as the LIAT ERJ 145, ATR 46, and Embraer E-170. As the first new international airport in the Caribbean in a decade, BIA positions Barbuda as the region’s smallest island with such a facility.

The airport’s launch has nearly doubled staffing levels, creating jobs for immigration and customs officers, aviation security personnel, and operational staff, bolstering the local economy.

  1. Question: Does any knows if MP Trevor Walker has been using the new spanking airport for his travels, or has he been using the ferry?
