National Demand for Water Expected to be Met by September 2025
Antigua and Barbuda is set to meet its national water demand by September 2025, Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced in his New Year’s address. The government has outlined a comprehensive strategy, including increasing production capacity to 13 million gallons per day and addressing existing challenges with infrastructure and staffing.
“An additional $110 million is being invested in water infrastructure, alongside the upskilling of staff involved in production, distribution, and maintenance,” Browne said.
The Prime Minister highlighted that production capacity had already increased by five million gallons per day, marking progress toward the government’s goal. He acknowledged ongoing inconsistencies in water supply in certain areas, describing the issue as complex but resolvable.
“These are not simple problems; they require time, money, and committed staff. All of this is being addressed,” Browne stated.
As part of the initiative, the government is focusing on modernizing infrastructure and ensuring a long-term solution to the water supply challenges. Browne assured citizens of his administration’s determination to resolve the issues permanently.
“We are determined to resolve these issues once and for all,” he said.
The water infrastructure improvements form part of a broader effort to enhance public services and support national development.

Yet another election promise, as with all of his previous broken commitments, do not hold your breath.
Would he resign if he fails to deliver again?
I doubt it!
It’s gonna take more than years of empty promises, false accusations of sabotage firing people left and right etc to solve our water problem Gaston Brown.. for real.
Word on the street is that the Water Manager has gotten his walking ticket or will be getting his walking ticket soon.
Why blame a man when the government knows that there is no money to do what needs to be done?
A.N.R. will be reporting on the firing soon.
Enough with these unfulfilled promises. Stop! Already completely turned off of the constant downpour of lies coming out of the UPP camp faithful nationals are in dire of unadulterated honesty. Please, Mr.. PM, impress upon your Ministers the need to get busy and get the work done or suffer the consequences. I wouldn’t want the present administration to get into bed with those lying UPP failed aspirants and begin to mirror their tactics. I don’t need any more time- stalling promises. Ministries must give plausible reasons for their respective failure to manage effectively and efficiently. Worsening road conditions, poor water provision, arbitrary , rampant price gouging, increasingly atrocious gar bage collection and disposal and the list could fill at least ten pages. Voter frustration, indifference, complacency,, cynicism if left uninvestigated, will push the country to rock bottom as we hand the governance of this beloved Country to an u.neducated, clueless, incompetent bunch of ragamuffin.
