Nation Mourns as Tributes and Calls for Justice Pour in for Nine-Year-Old Chantel Crump

The tragic death of nine-year-old Chantel Crump has sent shockwaves across Antigua and Barbuda, sparking widespread grief, tributes, and demands for justice. Political leaders, community organizations, and religious institutions have joined in mourning, offering condolences to her family and calling for accountability.

Seventh-day Adventist Church: “We Weep With You”

The South Leeward Conference of Seventh-day Adventists expressed profound sorrow over Chantel’s murder in an official statement.

“We are appalled and disgusted by the senseless and brutal abduction and murder of an innocent infant. In some ways, this is a reflection of the level of perilous times to which we have sadly come,” the statement read.

The church, which observed Global Youth Day on Saturday, emphasized the importance of community support and prayer during this difficult time.

“We will call upon God to intervene in the crime and to help our people live godly lives,” wrote Dr. Carson L. Greene, President of the South Leeward Conference. He assured the family that the church stands ready to provide grief counseling and any necessary support.

MP Richard Lewis: “Your Loss Is Our Loss”

St. John’s Rural West MP Richard Lewis shared his devastation, recalling how the news shook him awake.

“I was frightened out of my sleep to the devastating news that Chantel Crump’s body was found. I couldn’t go back to sleep. As a father and a community member, I am deeply hurt, still trying to gather myself,” he stated.

He commended the community and law enforcement for their swift action while extending condolences.

“My condolences to Everett and Marsha and the rest of the family. We mourn with you—your loss is our loss,” he added.

Michael Freeland: “Swift and Harsh Justice Must Be Served”

Michael Freeland called for immediate justice in an emotional message.

💔 “Our hearts are shattered by the devastating news. What began as a desperate search has ended in unimaginable grief for her family and all who held onto hope for her safe return.”

Freeland declared that there is “no place in this world for such cruelty,” urging the public to stand behind Chantel’s family during this time of mourning.

Senator Michael Joseph: “An Infinite Scar on Our Hearts”

Senator Michael Joseph also expressed sorrow and underscored the deep impact of Chantel’s loss.

“As a nation, we came together in these painful days to show our compassion, strength, and unity. Individuals mobilized search efforts, and the police left no stone unturned,” he said.

Joseph acknowledged Chantel’s bright spirit and the hole her absence leaves in the community.

“Chantel was special to her family, her friends, her school, and her community. Today, the people of St. John’s Rural West join the entire nation in mourning her untimely and tragic passing,” he said.

On behalf of the ABLP St. John’s Rural West Branch, he extended condolences and pledged continued support for the grieving family.

“We will miss Chantel cheering for us as one of our Labour Day cheerleaders,” he added.

One World Entertainment: “No Child Should Ever Have to Face Harm”

Entertainment group One World also released a statement, describing Chantel as a “bright and beautiful soul taken far too soon.”

“We grieve not just for Chantel but for the innocence stolen and left behind. No child should ever have to face harm, and we must come together to protect our most vulnerable,” the release read.

They called on the community to ensure that Chantel’s memory is honored through action, stating, “May her light forever shine in our hearts, and may we honor her memory by ensuring that no family endures such a tragedy again.”

  1. Chantel you will be remembered, I might be missing a news edition but I have not seen or heard Prime Minister of Antigua talk about all these events that’s going on in Antigua not one word I was wondering if this was a white man or Chinese children would the result be the same.I hope Chantel mom have the strength to stand and witness the Autopsy of her daughter and to make sure she is told the cause of her death and if all her body parts are still “intact”.

  2. Wasn’t Donna Marie Christian from that area? Chances are ifvthat area is favoured there will be more bodies on the Weatherills property going back to Dickenson bay.

  3. This is so sad, how can humans be so heartless what can an innocent child do to deserve that type of ending, I can’t only imagine how she begs for her live sad I know exactly what this family is going through as a young girl I lost my dad in a similar way and it’s like just yesterday it happened it’s a scar you never gets over,my condolences to her family

  4. These people truly have no heart!! Do you not have family or loved ones? How would you feel like this happened to someone you love??

Do you not fear GOD? Did you look into her eyes? Did you not see innocence?

The hell of hell awaits all of you one day. Just like you sealed the fate of this innocent child, you sealed your own fate!!

  5. This heinous act of brutality visited on the pure innocent child, is deemed most capriciously sadistic; in my humble outrage opinion. It leaves no room for the mercy of judgment in the hearts and mind of our total, civilized society; and, a clarion call must echo and reverberate from all strata for swift; and uncompromising justice of the fullest extent. There can be no cuddling of life imprisonment for the culprit– but sure and swift death, by any means necessary: in or out of official capacity. My heart is bleeding in anguish rage with disdain and vengeance for the perpetrator/s with wish to extract the same faith as that which was given to the child of our lot; and her family and our nation as a whole. As I’ve foretold. There are many demonic occultist persons and groups that is embedded amongst us; walking and talking with innocence and engaging in corverted act of malice in the vanities of their underworld beliefs. They need to be hunted and eradicate from our societal fabric: And for this, I will lend my hand and, give my all in total support. No justice, peace or, mercy will be shown to the occultist among us.

  6. Bun all Spanny bar ! ALL A DEM know who ah do what. They don’t give up one another they are ALL responsible for letting this go on so long. Not their own girls tho only Antiguan girls. It escalate now ANOTHER one of our daughters of the soil has been taken from us (Runaway) and we will never be able to let our children out the same way ever again as we don’t know how many others in this. They wont talk. How many trafficked girl in whorehouse and they don’t talk.

  7. It is really sad to see it’s a tragedy that is bringing the people of this nation together, we all support different politically parties but after this let us show a little more tolerance for each other’s opinion without the nasty rhetoric. Hope the death of this little Angel will brings us closer together
