Minister for Education, Creative Industries and Sports and Parliamentary Representative for St. John’s Rural South, Hon. Daryll S. Matthew, officially commissioned the Nut Grove Music Development Center yesterday at the Golden Grove Primary School.

The new facility aims to foster cultural exchange, education, and the development of musical talent within the Nut Grove community.

The Music Development Center was established as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade both the Golden Grove School and the Nut Grove community. In his remarks, Minister Matthew expressed gratitude for the continued support that helped bring the project to life, highlighting the importance of music in enriching lives and promoting cultural identity.

“The creation of this center is a testament to our shared commitment to nurturing talent and providing avenues for artistic expression,” said Minister Matthew. He emphasized the role of music as a bridge for cultural exchange and a vital tool for personal and communal development.

The project was made possible through the generous support of the People’s Republic of China, who have played a key role in its development. This collaboration reflects the strengthening of bilateral ties, particularly in areas of education and cultural advancement.

With the opening of the Music Development Center, the Nut Grove community is set to benefit from a dedicated space for musical instruction and enrichment, paving the way for the next generation of talented musicians.

  1. This is great news! Congratulations to the HON. DARYLL MATTHEW!!! Keep up the great work 👍🏿 👏 👏 👏

P.S – what of Gladys Potter?? Still selling scoops of icecream for $6.00?? She is adamant that she is still the caretaker for the area. With Pringle promising 10 new candidates, let’s see if she gets the boot.

  2. It should be good for the area but sadly, after the elections, that so-called project will be no more; just like the 30 something projects that should’ve brought thousands of jobs and billions of dollars. They came years ago with the Guiana Farms Ltd that took over 3000 acres of our lands for $US 1mil. and our land certificate and years later, some new players in the name of YIDA, promised EC$ 20 bil. for 10 years. We got nothing but gave hundreds of millions in waivers. I have to wonder if they manufactured guns, after witnessing the proliferation of gun crimes. They had an agreement with the government, signed by the PM, to do so. He refused the claim at first but admitted when he saw the evidence. They fooled the people and won the elections again.
