Murderers life sentences reduced

Two convicted murderers were given hope of re-entering society when the court of appeal set aside their life sentences this week.

Lasana Riley of Hatton and Jervony Richards of Bendals were convicted of the murder of Rondel George.

George and Kelvin Galloway were ambushed as they drove along a dirt road in Bendals in August 2010.

Riley fired his weapon killing George and injuring Galloway with the same bullet.

The robbers were both found guilty to murder by a jury in 2013.

At the appeal hearing, both men appealed their sentence and Riley also appeal his conviction.

The convictions were upheld but new sentences were imposed as the court of appeal ruled there was no evidence that the appellants could not be rehabilitated.

For his role in the crime, Riley was given a new sentence of 35 years in prison with a period of review for early release after he serves 20 years of his sentence.

Richards was sentenced to 25 years with a period of review after 15 years.

  1. Thank you justice just what we need to keep the police busy and the nation on there toes well done…..

With decisions like these the criminals knows there is hope after killing and terrorising people..

Thanks justice for looking out for the community, another solid insight to why we are where we are….

  2. This is foolishness, then they go back to there same old ways and walk round like they have a s on their chest .from you kill a man for what’s not your there should be no reprive of sentences for none of them

  3. APPELLATE CONSISTENCY

The citizenry shall now look forward to the State showing ‘…Appellate Consistency.’

There has been ‘…precedence when Police Constable Kevil Nelson was convicted [October 23/24, 2006] of the shooting death of Denfield ‘Tody’ Thomas of Liberta [October, 2009].

He was sentenced to 22 years imprisonment [July 8, 2010]. The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) shaved off two years of the sentence.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was clearly dissatisfied with the behavior of the appellate body.

The office appealed the decision to the ‘…London Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC)’ that, rightly or wrongly, ‘…stitched back on the two years.’

Thus, the ‘…conviction of Murder and Sentence’ were restored [UKPC: No. 0021 of 2014: Delivered: 16, 2, 2015].

Since the public appear to have issues with this ‘…reduce sentence,’ in the interest of the public, there may be no legitimate reasons not to challenged the behavior of the ‘…three Judges,’ who appeared rather ‘…insensitive and reckless’ in their judicial thinking and/or reasoning.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Accept the message.

  4. Free all now y incarcerate people for murder
