ABS- A new date has been set for the man accused of killing former St. Peter MP Asot Michael.
Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason has pushed back the case against Alexta Francis, after revealing the prosecution’s file is still not ready for committal.
Francis made his third court appearance today in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court since his arrest last November.
He’s accused of stabbing the high-profile former parliamentarian to death at his Dry Hill residence on November 5.
Police arrested and charged Francis just three days later. In court, Francis was again represented by Attorney Leon Symister.
The case is now adjourned to September 3, with the court awaiting key documents to move the matter forward.

Is our judicial system broken or just another case of kicking the “political” can down the road so that over time the politicians that currently rule over us are hoping that Antiguans will put this heinous Murder of Asot Michael to the back of their minds.
A reckoning is coming soon to these authoritarian rulers of this country. They continue to treat us with utter contempt.
Asot Michael’s family must utterly perplexed.
This delay is disgraceful and a OBLOQUY to the general public at large, who to see justice prevail ASAP.
I still find it difficult to think of Asot in the past tense and as being dead. He was a man who seem larger than life itself. I really hope that his family gets justice that is befitting of the caring and loving man that Asot was. I know that the constituency has since elected a new representative to replace the late MP but there cannot be anyone like Asot…..not now…..never!
This case file not ready nonesense is just deplorable. The police should have a prosecutorial team dedicated to working on these matters. It’s just downright slack that they take this long to get their acts together.
