MSJMC to develop integrated medical electronic records for patients

Cabinet Notes: Three I.T. experts from the Ministry of Information and the Mount St. John Medical Center (MSJMC) were invited to Cabinet to address the issue of developing integrated medical electronic records of patients.

The experts have been working on developing the full set of guidelines which the MSJMC, the Hannah Thomas Hospital, the MBS, and the proposed National Health Insurance scheme can utilize to bill patients and/or their insurance companies for services rendered.

A vendor of the software is yet to be selected.

Doctors will also be able to examine patients’ electronic records, when the new system is deployed.

  1. What is the hospital’s PRIVACY POLICY? Who all will have access to patient’s records? How long will the records be kept for?

  2. When you go to a hospital or health provider in the USA they automatically create a record for you. You need not approve of it but it is law. Cause incase there is an emergency with you doctors cannot wonder what medication you are on. And especially old people seem to forget what all mediations they are taking. And another doctor may prescribe them some medication that conflicts with what they are on.
It’s about time to integrate medical records from all medical practitioners. Security is paramount and legislation needs to pass to protect it by law. Miss-use should be punishable.
