With God’s help, I am now at the tail end of distributing back-to-school supplies packages to over seven (700) students in the St. John’s Rural West constituency. It is always a pleasure to give back to my community, especially to the those in need.

I am grateful for the kind donations from Stafford Lewis, Maria Sharon Martin, Rhea Lewis, the Matthews family, and Auckland Lewis. Thank you to Tenice & Allie Enterprise and others in the business community for their assistance.

Over two weeks ago, I called on the Gaston Browne Administration to grant a full waiver on the payment of Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) on back-to-school items for the two weekends preceding the start of the 2024/2025 academic year.

The call was based on the fact that due to the pressures of increased cost of living and other economic challenges, parents are under greater strain, thus making this back-to-school relief an urgent need. Sadly, the Gaston Browne Government refused to offer any relief.

The education of our children is critical to the development of our nation. I am happy to play my part in ensuring that our children have the tools necessary for a successful academic year.

  1. Very commendable of you Mr. Lewis, to assist those constituents on the lower economic scale. I’m sure the children and parents welcome the Back-to-School initiative for this new school year. However, these are the same parents who saved and spent their last dollar to attend and participate in the just ended carnival celebration. Most of them are the cause of their generational poverty cycle. They spend foolishly and have forgotten that they have bills to pay and should prioritize the important things (school fees, uniforms, rent, food, bookbags and other school supplies, etc). I think that it would also be beneficial to introduce monthly or quarterly classes on money management for
these same parents, to help them in the future. All may not appreciate it but if a few did and make meaningful changes to their spending habits, it would be a start and worth it. Continue your good work sir.

  2. The UPP in so much trouble now. Lord what a missed opportunity in not having you as the leader. Jamal and Gisel cannot take the Party forward.

  3. The more I hear about this compassionate man of the people, the Most Honourable Richard Lewis, the more that I wish that he was elected the leader of the UPP, our trajectory would have been beyond measure.

THIS MAN SHOULD BE WEARING A CAPE πŸ¦ΈπŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

  4. My Friend Richard Lewis We are waiting for you to accept The High Commissioner to Jamaica position. You know your heart is NOT with UPP. Papa Gaston is anxiously waiting for the call.

We do not want Serpent or Shugy , let Them die with UPP.

Gaston confirm Joel Rayne for St. George’s. Joel will bring home that seat to ABLP. We in St. George’s are anxiously awaiting confirmation of JOEL RAYNE for St. George’s.

Very nice to see Richard Lewis reaching out to the Children. Hope you realize that Richard is considering the position for High Commissioner to Jamaica. He will come over to ABLP because He cannot win that seat next election.
