Member of Parliament for the All Saints West Constituency Hon. Anthony Smith Jr. has expressed his satisfaction and excitement as concrete pouring officially began in the Lightfoot area, marking a significant milestone in long-awaited road infrastructure improvements across the constituency.

Speaking on the progress, MP Smith described the moment as “very exciting for the people of All Saints West,” especially those in Lightfoot, where residents have lived for over 40 years without proper infrastructure.

“We’ve prepped quite a bit of roads all over the constituency with the aim of pouring concrete, and today we were able to start the process,” he said.

The MP emphasized that this is part of a broader, inclusive development plan.

“We are not leaving anybody behind,” he assured, highlighting several communities set to benefit from future works, including Herberts, St. Clair Heights, Bellevue Heights, Buckleys, Seaview Farm, and Freemans Village.

MP Smith reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, stating, “We had a very comprehensive plan developed with the Minister and Director of Works to address the infrastructure issues… It’s a promise that we will come to every corner in All Saints West—it’s just a matter of time.”

  1. Yes fix the roads please but that nah save you come election day. We the people will not forget what you done! Lovell is going to teach you a lesson!

  2. A way “Mr Independent MP” get money to fix road? Oh so he no independant no more he running on labour party money? Or he can use Ministry of Agriculture money? Judas!

  3. It true I believe Anthony Smith, he remembered the pas when Gaston swore that all constituencies that didn’t vote for ALP will suffer, and now by his betrayal of the UPP the roads are fixed, he has to understand his existence is delicate and dynamic, he know it’s not done because of him, but ALP is romanticizing those constituencies to inculcate their institution by force or punishment if you don’t accept them.

  4. Good start, but let’s make sure the works are done properly and not just patchwork that won’t last through the next rainy season.

  5. I see a lot of concrete roads which is a good thing since they stand up longer and better than the asphalt variety and therefore are more cost effective in the long run. Way to go!!!

  6. First of all LMAO!!

So the MP is celebrating concrete on the roads, but what about the clinic that has been closed for over 800 days? Roads are important, yes—but access to healthcare is even more critical. People can’t “drive on a smooth road” to a clinic that doesn’t exist.

If promises are being fulfilled, then let’s see the same urgency applied to reopening vital health facilities. Development must be holistic—it’s not just about concrete, it’s about the well-being of the people who live here.

  7. Hopefully Renfrew “the forgotten city” will also benefit from these long awaited road works.
