The mother of a 12-year-old girl is pursuing legal action against a bus driver who allegedly struck her daughter as she was crossing Joseph Lane after school.

According to reports, the incident occurred while the child, Jakanda Dominique, was stepping off the sidewalk. Witnesses said the bus was traveling at high speed when it hit the student, throwing her several feet. A nearby coach reportedly intervened to prevent further injury as the girl fell.

The victim suffered injuries to her leg and shoulder and has been unable to attend school since the accident. Her leg remains in a cast, and she continues to experience pain.

The mother, Clevelander Christian, said the driver initially attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by bystanders who witnessed the collision. She also alleged that the driver has not reached out to the family or shown concern since the incident.

The matter has been reported to police, and Christian has sought legal representation to pursue damages. She described the driver’s behavior as reckless and called for greater caution among public transport operators, especially during school dismissal times when children are walking along the roads.

Police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.

  1. This article is merely unfactual.I was a passenger on that bus.The young lady observed no traffic saftey rules and crossed the road without looking. The young lady was gathered among many students who attended her school standing visibly in the road while they appeared to be speaking to the coach on that narrow strech of road where trafic is very busy .The bus then realized he hit something from the side and stood up the driver had no sight on what he had visibly hit.He then came out of the bus and handled the situation. We need to teach our kids to go home after school and observe proper saftey rules. NONSENSE it’s unfortunate but let this be a learning lesson to her.

  2. If it was your child you would seek justice, even if she was talking to the coach on the sidewalk an not paying attention at the time.that dont give the bus driver no rights to be driving so dam fast.i sure u was on ur phone and didnt see the full scene..yall sick ma stomach in this place…I dont drive n some a them bus man drive fast just to get back in line at bus station n u ka tell me me lie I catch bus every day..

  3. As a passenger, I can say the driver was not at fault, nothing more, nothing less. The children were in the wrong for being on the narrow road. A man even tried to pull her out of the way, but she unfortunately flung herself into the bus. Now tell me, whose fault is that?

I’m not dismissing her injuries, they are truly unfortunate, but it’s wrong to accuse the driver of fleeing when he immediately stopped after hearing the loud thump and stayed at the scene the entire time. Please stop spreading false stories. My sympathy goes out to her family, and equally, to the bus driver who is now being unfairly blamed.

  4. Please bye.Bout on phone.I would never say she’s not wrong for stepping up for her child but tell the full story, to much times these articles are sent around with lies. The coach also should have removed the crowd of students from out of the road. That junction is a very busy and narrow road why are all of those students gathered there???wrong is wrong and right is right.
