Prosecutors say they will press ahead with charges against a 20-year-old woman even after her co-accused accepted responsibility in court for firearm and cannabis offences.
Shanyea Crump pleaded not guilty when the matters were called, while 21-year-old Terry Williams — the father of her 11-month-old child — admitted guilt on all counts in both cases. Despite those pleas, the Crown indicated it will continue proceedings against Crump and must prove she had knowledge of and control over the firearm and cannabis.
The magistrate reminded the defence that bail in firearm matters can only be considered by the High Court.
The cannabis case is set for May 6, followed by the firearm matter on May 8. Crump remains on remand and was briefly permitted to see her baby after the hearing.
