Montego Bay is set to play a pivotal role in Caribbean air travel as Liat Air launches direct flights to two major destinations in the Dominican Republic: Santo Domingo and Punta Cana.
Flights from Montego Bay to Santo Domingo are scheduled to begin on 12 December 2025, followed by services to Punta Cana on 15 December. The airline said the expansion is part of a wider strategy to strengthen regional connectivity and position Montego Bay as a gateway for travel across the Caribbean.
The new routes are expected to serve a diverse mix of passengers, including business travelers, regional tourists, and Caribbean diaspora communities. Santo Domingo will cater to professionals and government officials, while Punta Cana remains a popular choice for leisure travelers seeking the Dominican Republic’s renowned beaches and resorts.
CEO Hafsah Abdulsalam said the move reflects Liat Air’s commitment to linking key Caribbean destinations. “Montego Bay’s strategic location makes it an ideal hub for expanding travel options across the region. These routes will support tourism, business, and cultural exchange,” she said.
In addition to passenger services, the airline noted that the new flights will facilitate the transport of goods and services, boosting trade between Caribbean markets.
