Search Underway for Missing Fishing Vessel “Endurance 2”

Authorities have launched a search for a fishing vessel reported missing on Tuesday afternoon after departing from Mosquito Cove, Jolly Harbour.

The vessel, identified as Endurance 2 and registered as V2-1597 JH, is described as an 18-foot white fibre-reinforced plastic pirogue powered by a single Yamaha 40-horsepower two-stroke outboard engine.

Chief Fisheries Officer Ian Horsford confirmed that the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Coast Guard is leading the search efforts and has appealed to all fishers and mariners for assistance.

Anyone spotting the vessel is urged to contact the Coast Guard immediately at (268) 462-3206, (268) 462-2841, or (268) 462-2843, or to notify the nearest police station.

  1. Hmmmmm. Is is this a locally made boat? Do imported boats go through the same Port/Customs protocols as road vehicles do? Just asking to satisfy my ignorance on such matters. Has an alert been sent to neighboring islands which might be wittingly or unwittingly HARBOURING the boat?
