This event will take place from 10th – 14th December, 2018.
The Opening Day of the meeting on 11th December, will take place at the Fisheries Division’s Conference Room and is expected to attract relevant department heads from across the public sector and other key stakeholders in the private and public sector, to whom the reform process is of concern.
The purpose of this consultation is to evaluate the existing legislation in the area of Agriculture, with a view to enhancing its sustainability, energy, food and water security and further advancing the climate change considerations in this area.
This will have significant impact on the way our key resources – namely, people, land and water are managed, and how renewable and/or alternative energy are utilized.
This interactive forum will provide an opportunity for the MAFBA to roll out its plans as it relates to the amendment of current legislation, for the FAO and its core partners UNEP, UNFCCC
Projects Coordinator within the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs, Mr. Gregory Bailey has been meeting with key personnel in finalizing plans for this important meeting.
While here, the consultants are expected to first meet with Minister of Agriculture, Dean Jonas and key technicians within the Ministry.
The team is also expected to examine various climate change issues with specific relations to Antigua and Barbuda to include drought, low moisture adaptation, land clearing
Attention will also be paid to climate change adaption legislation which can strengthen the entire value chains of production and marketing.
