  1. Yeah right, throw asphalt in a pothole filled with water, no technical equipment like pneumatically blow the water out of the pothole then using a propane heating machine to burn in that hole until it start to melt like the guys fixing road in the 70’s use to catch fire in the hole manually to vulcanize the asphalt in the pothole.

And we are supposedly more educated than them today, we have all sort of engineers.

  2. What about the sidewalk thar was started in Bolans months before the last general election was left like even coming up to the by-election and is still in the same shitty condition with green slimy water

  3. PM please just set an interview system for a new Director of Works please . Put a good Panel together to do the interviews. Let me help- B.T Lewis as engineer. The PS of works, the Attorney general, Someone from the bank, the FS- ministry of finance, the minister of works and of course the minister of finance / PM as Cheer.. However if you take my advice you don’t need anyone to assist you with this decision. You should be really your call. Leadership matters!
Someone told me that King is ahead as replacement. Honestly speaking he is an upgrade, however, we have been settling for such mediocrity that it is laughable that we can even think of him as Director. That will be a foolish decision if it’s true that you will live to regret.
You can make him a deputy with specific duties. Like engineer/ roads superintendent. If you want to promote your Villaman. For decades or for ever a layman, guys that worked on the sugar cake gang has been promoted to roads superintendent. That portfolio holds more authority and power than most engineers. The engineers at PWD sits in their offices and twiddle their thumbs. Just think of the previous superintendents and the rolls they have played. Even the Ministers and the PM from time to time go directly to the roads superintendents. They are the ones that are usually the face of PWD.
So King should be placed as the road superintendent- which means that position needs to be upgraded and held by someone with a degree in engineering.
The Director can be a Civil Servant with an Engineering degree, construction management or even architecture.
I will now put forward two Antiguans that if I was the leader of this country I would interview.
The first is Wesley James. He is the head architect at PWD with a masters. Wesley taught at a university in the USA while doing his masters. He is no nonsense. He acted as deputy director. You went ahead and chose Crump ahead of Wesley as you said for political reasons. Nothing is wrong to put your own in charge. Especially if they are willing to put in the work and have your back. That was a big mistake, which you admitted to. Instead of going for Wesley with very good management skills. He has been working on projects that involved preparing reports for the Caribbean Development bank. Hence more than qualified for this job. He is a straight talker and will tell you exactly as it is and not what you want to hear. He does not bullshit. So if you want someone that you will be professional, truthful, honest and straightforward. Hard working, intelligent and well articulate Wesley is your guy. This guy has integrity and will get your work done, without fair or favor. He is my first pick. He knows PWD like the palm of his hand. In parliament you said it’s time to stamp out the laziness in government office. Well start with Wesley at PWD. He will let Minister Maria Browne and your administration look good. KING CAN NEVER!
My next guy is someone not in the government service. He is presently working at the Antigua Port Authority. His name is Sheon Samuel. This guy is not too much of a talker. He is action speak louder than words. He is perfection personified. His clerical / communication skills is superb. I don’t even know exactly what is his qualifications. I think he is a civil engineer/ project manager. However if you want someone to manage this 100 million dollars and be accountable for every red cent- this is your guy. Please please Check out these two Antiguans. I know they do outstanding work and give us what we deserve.
