MINISTRY OF WORKS SAID: Since Hurricane Irma’s devastation in 2017, robust efforts have been made to improve Barbuda’s hurricane preparedness and resilience.

A key component of this was the construction of the new NODS building, completed earlier this year. NODS is now better able to conduct its critical work, as improved hurricane response becomes increasingly urgent due to climate change.

We extend our commendations to the Project Implementation Management Unit within the Ministry of Works for their dedication and excellence in advancing multiple building projects and the construction of miles of resilient concrete roads on our sister isle.

The renovated NODS Building is just one of several major civil works, funded by a USD 31 million CDB loan and additional government investment.

Other completed building projects include:

• Renovated Barbuda Council Administrative Building

• Rehabilitation of the Community Centre, with retrofit for emergency shelter use

• Construction of the Community Multipurpose Centre/Emergency Shelter
