Minister of Works Maria Browne is urging the public to stop stealing traffic cones and road signs, warning that the problem is disrupting road rehabilitation efforts.
Speaking on state media, Browne said equipment often disappears within hours of being placed.
“Our cones seem to grow feet and walk away,” she said. “These are government assets and vital for public safety. Please do not interfere with them.”

To tackle the issue, the Ministry plans to introduce brightly coloured cones and signs in purple and pink, making them easier to identify if stolen.
Road works are ongoing across several communities and major highways.

Guess people have the same attitude like ministers with access to state resources.
Charge them, that’s simple larceny.
How yuh expect road repairs to finish if equipment keep disappearing?
Murda, cones too. Crack heads are everywhere.
And we needs these cones to be placed where work has started because there is no indication that there is a dig out of 10 by 12 proceeding its only when you are on it that you shout out ‘ Oh
Shit’ and you feel the drop of the vehicle in the did out rectangular unfished mall so let’s get them locked up when they are caught
Funny how Antiguans behave! Don’t fix the road and they curse, but the moment you start work they thief the equipments and all a that
This is shameful. Do they think cones are souvenirs? Leave the equipment alone and let them do their jobs.
Like they need to leave a security with the equipment at the end of the day
