Urban Transformation Plans Gain Momentum as Minister Turner Meets Woods Pond Vendors
Minister of Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner has announced a unified commitment to revitalise the Woods Pond area following what he described as a “productive and positive” meeting with local vendors.
Turner met with those operating in the space to discuss the government’s proposed intervention to upgrade the site, which he said was met with “full support” from the vendors.
“The vendors share our vision for a cleaner, safer, and more organized space that reflects the pride we all have in our community,” Turner said. “They understand the importance of upgrading the site and are eager to play their part in the transformation.”
The meeting also included discussions with the current landowner, who, according to the minister, has pledged full support for the initiative — a key factor in enabling the regularisation of operations at the site.
“This alignment between Government, vendors, and landowner is a critical first step,” Turner noted. “This is what partnership looks like — and this is how we build a better Antigua & Barbuda, one space at a time.”
The planned transformation aims to enhance public health, safety, and business efficiency in the Woods Pond area, long known as a hub for small-scale commerce.
No timeline has yet been given for when work on the upgrades will commence.

Big up Minister Turner for showing interest in de real hustlers of this economy.
Talk done! Action time now. These vendors need support, not just promises.
Woods Pond vendors been struggling long enough. Dis meeting better lead to real change.
At least he a tek time out to listen. Some ministers nah do even dat!
Give dem vendors proper recognition. Dey feed half de country every week!
more like they feed half the flies, dogs and mosquitoes with all their NASTY GARBAGE AND NARSEE-NISS they dump on site.
This is transparency! He speaks with them before he makes decisions .
Rawdon is doing a job well done. Gaston be careful. Anar Jamal’s you haffi friend. Rawdon a come kick you out🤣🤣🤣
lol the face of some those vendors says a lot. The people vex they had to be there when they could be making their money. They just need to be more structured
I have faith that Minister Turner and his team will get the job done; so let’s get to it guys and shut the nay sayers the hell up!
I understand what Mr Turner wants to do but he probably lacks understanding of what it feels like to be in poverty
the results of the meeting and it’s implementations are what counts otherwise the meeting is just that…a meeting
Commendable Hon. Turner
Although Turner is not the best pick for this ministry, I can say that he is working
He is the new person on the ALP block they can use to be the trojan horse. Trust me what ever Mr turner will be doing to these vendors will be deleterious to local entrepreneurship.
