Festivals Minister Daryll Matthew has praised Danijha Simon for her strong showing in the 2025 Queen of Carnival competition, where she placed Second Runner-Up.
In a Facebook tribute, the St John’s Rural South MP commended Simon’s grace, talent and determination, calling her journey “a source of inspiration to many.”
While she did not claim the top spot, the Minister said the community remains proud and fully supportive of her achievements.
Simon’s performance in the high-profile cultural event has drawn attention to the creative spirit of St John’s Rural South, boosting community pride.

Congratulations….I thought her evening gown was very creative and should have won best evening wear. If we are going to encourage creativity..impact and grace of movement…as per theme the judges missed something.
The backless section of the gown speak volumes….gives the illusion of floating on her…the wow factor.

Am I the only one that get the impression that the Minister appears desperate in terms of attracting attention? Never before has he ever been seen with carnival contestants and participants. I think he realises that his seat is being threatened and hence playing defence.
