Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Charles ‘Max’ Fernandez, expressed an optimistic outlook on Caribbean tourism during the recently concluded Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Caribbean Week in New York.
Minister Fernandez highlighted the region’s strong recovery from the pandemic, emphasizing the renewed interest in the Caribbean as a popular travel destination.
He expressed confidence in the promising prospects for the remainder of the year and beyond, despite the trend of shorter booking windows.
Additionally, he showcased Antigua and Barbuda’s growth and development in terms of top-class airport facilities and improvements to the cruise port, including the completion of the fifth pier and ongoing dredging efforts to accommodate larger cruise ships.
The minister also unveiled a strategic focus on the yachting sector, recognizing its higher per-person spending potential and significant economic benefits.
Minister Fernandez underscored the vital importance of tourism to the people of the Caribbean, emphasizing the enduring appeal of the region’s natural beauty and the livelihoods it supports.
