Mill Academy Claims First Place in CARICOM Agriculture High School Competition
Forty-four secondary schools across nine CARICOM Member States—Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago—and one Associate Member, Turks and Caicos, participated in the highly anticipated CARICOM Agriculture High School Video Competition.
The competition, held from December 16-20, 2024, showcased the creativity and innovation of students through engaging video submissions, all of which were hosted on the CARICOM Secretariat’s Facebook page. During the competition period, the videos attracted significant public interest, generating impressive Facebook analytics, including:

The results are in, and Mill Academy (a primary school) from Antigua and Barbuda has emerged as the first-place winner, securing an outstanding 1,509 votes. This victory makes Antigua and Barbuda proud, as Mill Academy was the sole school representing the nation in this competition.
In second place was Georgetown Secondary School from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with 1,238 votes, followed by Mopan Technical High School from Belize, which garnered 1,172 votes.
This initiative was part of the CARICOM Secretariat’s efforts to engage youth in agriculture, supported by funding from the Director-General under the Caribbean Week of Agriculture. Special thanks are extended to the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) for their invaluable support in making this competition a success.
The winning schools will be recognized during a virtual presentation ceremony scheduled for January 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM Guyana time. Further details, including the agenda and access link, will be provided in due course.
