Constable Shamar Smith, performing as Mighty Birdie, has won the 2025 Police Calypso Monarch title at the Antigua Recreation Grounds.
The victory came in a closely fought contest featuring 12 calypsonians as part of the 57th annual Police Week celebrations. Smith finished ahead of Shania “Lady Ace” Samuel in second place and Clint “Panampanana” Spencer in third.
After an unplaced debut in 2022 and a runner-up finish in 2023, Smith’s win reflects a steady rise in the competition. His winning calypso drew on stories from the police community, blending social commentary with humour and cultural reflection.
The contest, held under the theme “Rising to New Challenges, Serving with Greater Dedication,” celebrates the artistic talents of officers while promoting camaraderie and public engagement.
