Michael says opposition candidates asking him for cash, favours

Antigua Labour Party candidate for St. Peter Asot Michael is accusing two opposition candidates of begging him for cash and favours.

Michael was speaking at a campaign event tonight to endorse St. Paul candidate Paul Chet Greene.

He said Democratic National Alliance leader Joanne Massiah not only pledged support for his candidacy but requested assistance during a telephone call.

“She said but I want a street light and I see you clearing all the bush up at Vernons, Light Foot and Gunthropes, can you send a backhoe?”

Michael told supporters that he has also had calls from members of the United Progressive Party (UPP).

He said the UPP candidate for St. Phillip South, Chester Hughes, called him at 7 a.m on Sunday.

“I said Chester what you want. He said I want some money,” Michael claimed.

Michael said he had witnesses to prove that Hughes showed up at his Dry Hill residence.

  8. Please God give the Antiguan people wisdom to kick this ABLP party to the curb. They will lie, cheat and make all kinds of false promises to hang unto power. We know that nobody is getting land for $1 a square foot and why should some people get free land when others have to pay for it? We know that some Antiguans don’t want to pay for anything and will believe the lies.

  11. Is this the guy the authorities held for hours in the UK? Was he the one who the guy broke thru the glass to escape in hi str? Was this the one who fundle the copper? Is this the voice on the tapes? What is wrong with our people that they let these hypocritese into our government. Have we no moral, have we no shame? Have we no pride or self worth?
