Merchant Says ABLP Had ‘Boots on the Ground’ During Barbados Election

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) had representatives in Barbados during that country’s general election, according to Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office, Maurice Merchant.

Merchant made the disclosure Thursday during the post-Cabinet media briefing while responding to a question about Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s reaction to the Barbados election results.

Browne, he said, had already spoken with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley following her party’s clean sweep at the polls.

“Prime Minister personally would have spoken with Prime Minister Mia Mottley,” Merchant said, adding that it was “a strategic move by her to call early elections.”

He then noted the involvement of the ABLP during the campaign period.

“I can tell you that, in terms of party relations, the Antiguan Barbuda Labour Party had boots on the ground in Barbados, assessing and reporting on developments there in Barbados,” Merchant said.

Merchant did not indicate that the presence was part of any official government function, framing it instead as party-level engagement.

The Barbados election resulted in a decisive victory for Mottley’s party, leaving the opposition without parliamentary representation.

  1. Ahhhhh what a shame, I was looking forward to ANR playing the video of Maurice ‘Monotone’ Merchant speech about this.

Never mind I’ll go on YouTube to listen to Merchant’s monotonous sleep inducing sounding voice for a good belly laugh.

ABLP supporters, I beg, go listen as well; you’ll never EVER ridicule the Honourable Jamal Pringle’s voice again.

    I BEG YOU PLEASE 🤣🤣🤣

  2. Ok Gaston was advised by Ron saunders to usurp the Barbados exuberance emanating from motley intellectual leadership,
So in doing so it will give the public perception that Gaston is supposedly associate with that calibre of leadership.
Do you think Mia motley would have done that scamming alpha nero theft of private property using the American sanction on Russia to benefit personally financially?
Do you think a lady of mia motley caliber would have used the police and army to hold the barbudans at gun point and take their lands and sold it to white people in a gentrification scheme trying to replace all the black people? He Gaston said it would be a jumby bay on steroids ( I wonder if gaston knows that it was called jumby bay because the colonials carried our ancestors there to bury like flies as they were tortured and killed on the plantation?) meaning all white people enclave, he held the barbudans on Antigua and said clearly he was winning and dining them to stay in Antigua and don’t return to Barbuda.
If mia motley was to adumbrate on that scenario, Gaston would be branded a terrorist.

  3. So just what turns on that. I am willing to bet the Barbados elections were FREE and FAIR. I am also willing to bet since ABLP we have had FREE elections but far from FAIR. Dishonesty is in the DNA of anyone associated with ABLP
