Mental Health Advocate Chaneil Imhoff Honored with JCI Youth Empowerment Award

Chaneil C. Imhoff, founder of the Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing (WISH), was recently recognized with the JCI Youth Empowerment Award for her outstanding advocacy in mental health and wellness. The award, presented by JCI Antigua, celebrates her dedication to transforming how Antigua and Barbuda addresses mental health issues.

In a statement on social media, Imhoff expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing that the honor reflects the collective efforts of her team and the community. “This recognition is not just for me but for the entire team and community that have stood by this mission,” she shared.

Imhoff highlighted the contributions of her team members—Blaire, Raisa, and Makeida—describing their passion and dedication as instrumental to the success of WISH. “Together, we’ve built more than just a platform – we’ve created a movement,” she said, underlining the collaborative spirit behind the initiative.

The Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing was born from a vision to address mental health challenges in Antigua and Barbuda by breaking the silence and dismantling stigmas around mental wellness. Imhoff noted that the award serves as a reminder of the progress made and the work that lies ahead.

“Let’s continue to break the silence, shatter stigmas, and build a future where mental wellness is a priority for all,” she urged, reaffirming her commitment to advancing mental health advocacy.

JCI Antigua’s decision to honor Imhoff aligns with its mission to empower young leaders and foster positive societal change. The organization, known for its longstanding dedication to community development, praised Imhoff’s impact in promoting mental health awareness and creating meaningful change.

This recognition not only celebrates Imhoff’s personal achievements but also shines a spotlight on the growing need for mental health initiatives in the region.
