Trinidadian artist Melly Rose is sharing her heartfelt concern over recent reports of U.S. military operations in Caribbean waters that have allegedly resulted in boats being bombed or destroyed.
“I’ve been seeing what’s happening, and honestly, it’s been sitting heavy on my heart,” said Melly Rose. “If there are wrong things taking place out there, I completely understand the need to protect our region but innocent people could be getting hurt in the process. These are real families, real lives. Everyone deserves their day in court. There has to be a better way.”
Melly explained that her thoughts go out to the everyday people who depend on the sea to live — from fishermen and ferry workers to travelers and families moving between islands. “For many of us, the ocean is not just water, it’s how we connect, how we feed our families, how we survive. I just want safety for our people.”
The singer, who has long used her platform to champion community and humanity, hopes her message reminds regional and international powers that Caribbean lives matter and that peace should always come before force.
“The Caribbean has always been a place of love, rhythm, and resilience,” Melly added. “I just hope leaders choose compassion and care when making decisions that affect our people. We deserve to feel safe in our own waters.”

The sudden retirement of the US Military command for the Southern Caribbean Admiral Alvin Holsey says just how much even he disapproves of the military action in the Caribbean. Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Hon Gaston Browne already let known his decision. I believe with the exception of “Mother Hen” from Trinidad and Tobago, all the other Caricom/Caribbean leaders disapproves and are disgusted and appalled with the US activities in our region. There clearly must be a better way.
@Audley are you speaking from a position of facts? You can state FACTUALLY that the said generally disapproves of such action?
The admiral by looking at him, had many a years left as Military commander of southern Caribbean, so it’s either he’s now having doubt about these bombing actions, plus the possibility of an invasion of Venezuela and decided to push back, now we all know that’s the wrong move when you’re dealing with the Trump administration and the mouth, mouth head of the Department of War, so some kind a disagreement went down, hence. Then Grenada and Antigua not getting on board.
I understand they rescued a couple of people after the last strike, but why go through the trouble of rescuing, when it’s all about total elimination, plus it is now understood that Venezuelan boats are not the only boats running on this popular drugs highway.
It’s amazing the US often spoke of concern the many people dieing in these wars and this must stop, yet in our peaceful Caribbean waters without being attacked they have the right in total destruction of any vessel and it’s crew without answering to anyone. Power and Might.
