The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) served up a thrilling showcase of rising talent and competitive spirit at the recently concluded National Table Tennis Championships — and it was nothing short of electrifying.
Mekhi Simmons stood tall as the tournament’s most decorated player, sweeping three titles — U19 Singles, Open Singles, and Open Doubles (with Barrington Loague). With blistering forehands and unmatched composure, Simmons solidified his place as Antigua and Barbuda’s new table tennis kingpin.
In the youth ranks, Tiquan Tonge made his own headlines, clinching U17 Singles and Doubles (alongside Emmanuel Stoute), signalling the arrival of a new generation of contenders.
Other standout performances included:
🏓 Sandra Joseph — battling her way to 2nd in Open Singles and U17 Doubles silver, proving herself as one of the nation’s hardest-working athletes.
🏓 Zlaton Baptiste and Nathan Thomas — impressive in U17 Singles and Doubles brackets, showing the depth of emerging youth talent.
🏓 Collins Abraham —earned bronze in the Open Singles and Open Doubles silver with ABTTA President Charles Bellot.
