Medical Benefits Scheme Hosts Health Fair in Barbuda

More than 80 residents attended the Medical Benefits Scheme’s (MBS) Community Health and Wellness Fair in Barbuda at the weekend, taking advantage of free medical screenings. The checks included 28 breast examinations and 23 prostate tests, part of a wider push to promote preventative healthcare on the island.

Organisers said the turnout reflected the community’s commitment to making health a priority. The fair also featured contributions from partners such as F. B. Armstrong, the AIDS Secretariat, and Eyemobile, alongside volunteer doctors and nurses.

A highlight of the day was a senior citizens’ exercise session led by Justin Joseph of Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, which organisers described as a lively and engaging moment for participants.

The MBS said the fair is part of its ongoing programme of community outreach and prevention, aimed at building a healthier Antigua and Barbuda. Similar initiatives are expected to follow in the months ahead.

  1. More than 80 got rested. Lots of people were not able to get tested.
Hope MBS realizes this should not be a one day event which resulted in many disappointed Residents not able to be tested.
I’m confident MBS staff will be back soon, for the package lunches were fantastic and beyond expectations.
That’s Barbudans hospitality when our Antiguans bothers and sister visit with benevolent intentions
